MIP Technology GmbH wins HERMES Startup Award

MIP Technology GmbH – a spin-off from the Institute of Microproduction Technology at Leibniz Universität Hannover – wins the HERMES Startup AWARD 2022.

Mathias Rechel and Piriya Taptimthong, the two founders and managing directors of the startup, received the coveted trophy from the hands of Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Federal Minister of Education and Research, and Prof. Reimund Neugebauer, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

With its revolutionary Magnetic Information Platform (MIP), the company founded in 2020 offers an identification solution as an alternative to visual codes and RRFID tags. MIP’s particularly robust ID tags are inserted by welding, vulcanisation or injection, for example. The resulting thermal and chemical resistance provides advantages for industrial applications such as the automatic identification and registration of means of production or also in the area of plagiarism protection.

During the award ceremony at the Hanover Fair, the jury was impressed by the developed technology and praised in particular the high reliability of the marking, which, among other things, enables recycling processes of components whose surfaces have been heavily stressed in numerous industries.
